Contribute to a Green Environment

It seems as if wherever you go, there are products and businesses offering eco friendly goods and services. There are many things we can do to participate in the green. By networking and doing a little research, you can enjoy a green environment for years to come.

Getting people in your community involved is one step towards creating a green environment. Try to get a recycling event organized. This is a great way to promote an eco friendly town, as well as come up with new ideas for other events.

If your community doesn’t already have a local recycling center, campaign to get one. Talk to city officials and find out the proper channels needed to point you in the right direction. Many times, there is an issue of money. Having fund raisers, dinners, and rummage sales are a great way to raise money for your community as well as promote an eco friendly environment.

Take a good look around your house. Old batteries and expired prescriptions and over the counter medication are both a health and environmental risk. Certain businesses will offer times where you can drop off these items to be disposed of in an eco friendly fashion. Certain companies, such as cellular phone providers, offer discounts and incentives for bringing in unused phones and old batteries.

When making produce purchases, buying organic is the way to go. Organic products are grown free of chemicals and pesticides. This promotes a green environment and makes them healthy for you. On the same note, you can also try your hand at gardening. Creating an organic garden of your own is convenient and also ensures that you have the products which you love on hand at all times.

Toilets and showerheads are another product used in eco friendly environments. These products have been redesigned to use far less water than their predecessors. They also save hundreds of gallons of water per year, and can save you hundreds of dollars on your utility bills.

Using recycled paper products promotes a green environment as well. Most all paper products are available in recycled versions, including napkins and toilet paper. Using recycled paper products saves millions of trees each year. This is great news considering the population of trees is diminishing at an alarming rate.

Recycling at home is a great way to get the whole family involved in eco friendly practices. Make different colored containers for each type of product to be recycled or let the kids decorate them. This is a fun way for all family members to participate in the green.

Pick up aluminum cans from the sides of the road and other places. This eco friendly practice cleans up the environment as well as putting a few dollars in your pocket.

Achieving a green environment is not as hard as it sounds. With new, eco friendly products being developed every day, there is no limit to what you and your community can do.
